At Longwood University, tradition has it that stepping on one of the seven black crowns that adorn the sidewalks around campus brings students an extra bit of good luck. So when Hailey, then a freshman at Longwood, struggled one evening with a sociology assignment, her friend Alex persuaded her to take a much-needed break to set out on a search for all seven crowns. They found six before it was time for Hailey to get back to work, and Alex promised Hailey they’d someday find the seventh crown together
And on a beautiful Thursday evening last month, Alex kept that promise. After a lovely dinner at their favorite Mexican restaurant, Alex brought Hailey to a little park on their way home where he, with the help of a friend, had set quite the romantic scene. With candlelight, roses, the seventh good luck crown and a stunning diamond ring, Alex surprised Hailey as he dropped to one knee and proposed.
And about that ring…
Armed with some helpful hints from Hailey, Alex worked with Gretchen at Braunschweiger to find what he hoped would be the perfect ring for his fiancée.
Alex decided upon a delicate white gold mounting from Coast Diamond set with a cushion halo of pavé diamonds to frame the beautiful round center stone he selected.
So how did Alex do?
“I couldn’t love it more,” gushes Hailey. “I find myself staring at it during all points of the day because he truly chose the most gorgeous ring!”
What’s next for the happy couple?
Since Hailey is currently in graduate school in St. Louis, the couple is taking this time to enjoy their engagement! They hope to be married in the fall of 2018.
Congratulations to Hailey and Alex! We are honored to be a part of this special moment and excited to share in your happiness.
